Put some sram in a bottle and leave the top open. Put a mark on the bottle  
at the top level. Come back in a day or two and see if the level has dropped. 
If  it has dropped, it is volatile. Burn your program into flash. Assure that 
it  runs. Remove power. Restore power. Is program still there? If so it is not  
volatile.
