NEED HELP WITH THE MPCM USART MODE

hi, i have a problem with the multiprocessro USART mode on an ATMEGA16
The AT16 is a slave and it is configured for 9bit frame format and interrupt driven. the problem is that when the MPCM bit is enabled it doesn't react at slave recognition frame.
i'm sure that i'm sending the data correct, the 9-th bit is 1.
this is what is written in datasheet:
For an MCU to act as a Master MCU, it can use a 9-bit character frame format (UCSZ =7). The ninth bit (TXB8) must be set when an address frame (TXB8 = 1) or cleared when a data frame (TXB = 0) is being transmitted. The Slave MCUs must in this case be set to use a 9-bit character frame format.
please if you have any ideas how to solve the problem i'd be most gratefull.
