Delphi 6 HEEELP!

Delphi 6 HEEELP!

2004-09-09 by John Samperi

Hello again

I have been trying UNSUCCESSFULLY to join
a group to get some info/help with Delphi. There
are a few in Yahoo but seem to be dead, not much
happening. Any suggestions? Perhaps some of you
clever people may help me. I'm trying to decide
whether I should get Visual Basic or Delphi to do
some simple PC interfaces to some of our products.

Regards

John Samperi

In linux, everything you need is in the system C libs
and you even get a free compiler and all source code;)

For gui, there is gtk, qt, and various scripting languages
such as python etc have gtk bindings.

There are a lot of very active Delphi related newsgroups,
some hosted by Borland
http://info.borland.com/newsgroups/ng_delphi.html
For the others search in your newsgroup server or Google.
If you feel comfortable with Pascal don't look at people
trying to shift to C or whatever. Delphi is extremely productive,
produce fast code, has lot of support from third parties,
many free. And yes, there is Kylix, its cousin for Linux. Both
have free "personal" edition to test on.
C is always an option. Basic, better no.

Hi,

I'm working for 10 years and ofcourse I'm confused
using VB or Delphi. bcz delphi is very powerfull but
VB supported by Microsoft. I think if you dont want to
port written code to future versions, or if in the
future newer version wont exist, makes no problems for
you, Delphi is a great and powerfull choice. but if
you could break down any work in two parts, main
engine, and user interaciton part, and do the main
part with VC++ and the other part with Delphi or VB in
any way you have a chance to adapt your work with new
products or platforms.

good luck.

Try RealBasic -

Compiles for Win, Mac OSX and earlier, *nix. IDE is
available native Windoze and Mac. Good environment, great
personal support and list, modest $$. Has a VB converter,
even (ie, input is a VB program, output is an RB one).
Quite rich including data bases, tcp/ip & internet classes,
etc.

Pascal/Modula compilers: was: (Re: [AVR-Chat] Delphi 6 HEEELP!)

Does anybody have a Pascal or Modula-2 compiler for the AVR?
Or are C compilers all you can get?

Erikc,

> Does anybody have a Pascal or Modula-2 compiler for the AVR?

yes, I own the Embedded Pascal compiler:
http://users.iafrica.com/r/ra/rainier/
I like Pascal very much and do nearly all my embedded x86
programming in Pascal/Delphi mixed with Assembler. Since I
started programming the AVRs in 1999/2000 I am working with the
AVR Pascal compiler and could reuse my x86 Pascal/Delphi code.
I am not completely satisfied with the compiler. See
http://www.mme-berlin.de/avr/index.htm

Best regards, Bernd Mueller.
