UART and IDLE modes on Mega16

UART and IDLE modes on Mega16

2005-03-17 by Lauer, Thilo

Given a Mega16, i want to perform AD conversions as precise as possible
and therefore am thinking of using the noise canceler feature. What i
didn't find in the docs however, was a statement in which sleep modes
the UART receiver would still be listening, that is, not generating
interrupts, not waking up the CPU, just listening to the RX line.
According to the docs, the UART would be available only in IDLE mode,
the description however shows that the UART derives its clock directly
from Fosc, and not from any possibly disabled clock line. So i guess the
RX shift register would still be clocked in other sleep modes as well.
Any experiences on that issue?
