I2C on Atmega

I2C on Atmega

2004-01-21 by K.Mellott

Hi,

Anyone done any I2C stuff on the ATmega16 or 163? I'm going to
interface to a virtual reality headset to extract tracking data and
its in an I2C format. Wanted to use the Atmega16 or 163. The
datasheets show some info on how to do it but I was wondering if
anyone had any practical experience on the subject.

Thanks
Kevin

Hi,
Atmel has some appnotes on doing I2C. But beware, there is a mistake in one of these programs. It is a long time ago that I used them, but there is a line with the comment "while ... or ... ", and the code does "while ... AND ... ". Perhaps they have corrected their error. The condition of the while loop should be an "or".

Kevin,

I've had I2C running on the '163, '128, and '32 for a while now. I'd be
happy to answer any specific questions about it. Email me offline.
