8515 source in Australia (or NZ)

8515 source in Australia (or NZ)

2005-06-16 by John Samperi

G'day all

So my 'favorite' supplier Memec doesn't stock
the mega8515 and has bumped up the prices for Mega8
by more than 50% since March >:-o I guess it may be the
result of having been taken over by Avnet! X;{

I need a couple of tubes of mega8515 (20 off) or
even the older 90s8515 as the boards can use both,
(provision for external BOD)

I know about Electus and Soanar plus, about double
the price, Dontronics about 4 times the price.

Braemac...perhaps but they are not the cheapest. I end
up buying stuff from overseas cheaper every time I get
a price from them. (got some stuff coming from Future
that is cheaper than Braemac)

Anyone else I can try out?

Regards

John Samperi

Bloody Avnet. They still owe me a few hundred dollars from a few years
ago when they delivered the wrong parts (some opto isolators) and then
decided they only wanted to deal with their 50 largest customers!

Anyone else have a gripe about Avnet? (or at least a previous version
of Avnet). I'll get back those $$s back one way or another.

Peter

Can you order from Digi-Key in the US? ATMEGA8515-16AC is US $5.16 up to
24, and $3.24 for 25 or more. But I suppose the shipping costs could kill
you.

Yes, I had problems with them several years ago. It was a repeating
pattern. I'll give someone the benefit of the doubt a couple times, as
mistakes occasionaly do happen. But if it's three times in a row, "Three
strikes and yo're out!" (That's from the US sport of baseball, for those
of you overseas.) :-)
