Self Programming !!

Self Programming !!

2005-07-07 by Ahmad El-Saied

Hi All,
I try to make a self programming program which
takes some commands (opcodes) from user & puts it in
the flash memory ... so , i made a boot loader that
takes the input from the user & saves it to SRAM &
when he enters FF , it saves this program in the flash
memory using SPM instruction .. but it didn't work , i
aheve some questions:

1- i worked on AVR 3.2 with the include file of the
AT90s8515 AFTER modifying it with ATmega 8515 features
(address of the spmcr ... etc) .. is that wrong !!

2- i write the BIOS (my o.s. i.e, boot loader) in the
beginning of the Flash Memory .. should i write the
code SPM in another Specific memoty part (Boot Flash
Section) .. or this part which i edit my operatig
system is the boot flash section !!

3- when i do SPM , have i to enable RWW bit in the
SPMCR when making spm or it doesn't make difference
??

               Thanks in Advance
                       Ahmad El-Saeed
