'HC244 dongle under AVR Studio ?

Okay...I checked the archives but nothing came up (perhaps I used the wrong keywords ?). I want to program some code into an ATMEGA16 via a 10 pin ICSP header. Can I use a homebrew parallel programming dongle (74HC244 design)under the AVR Studio programming environment (v4.08) ? If so, can someone explain the what and hows ? Thanks in advance. Hugh
