ION Mod Matrix

ION Mod Matrix

2003-07-08 by stevenlebeau

Hi, I'm new to this list and this is my first post. I've actually
already pre-ordered the ION from Musician's Friend, and would like to
ask Ben (and others who are involved with Alesis) a couple of
questions:

1. Currently, the Mod Matrix makes no provisions for modifying the
cord amount of one Mod Matrix routing with that of another (as can be
done with the Mod Matrix in E-mu samplers/sound modules). I mention
this because I'd imagine it to be a simple enough idea to implement,
and it's incredibly useful to be able to have something like (forgive
me for using E-mu syntax on this):

   Cord #1: FilterEnvelope > Filter Amt: 15%
   Cord #2: Velocity > Cord #1 Amt: -40%
   Cord #3: LFO1 > Cord #2 Amt: 25%

(You get the idea).

2. Why has the inventors of ADAT Lightpipe, the most popular and most
common digital I/O format ever devised, created a DIGITAL synth
lacking DIGITAL I/O? Please don't take this as a complaint, as I'm
happily awaiting my ION, but it does seem a bit odd. I noticed that
the re-released QS series synths no longer sport ADAT I/O as well. :(

Anyway, I look forward to getting my ION soon (maybe next week if I'm
lucky). Until then, will some of you lucky bastards already in
possession of your ION put some mp3 demos up so everyone can have
something to preoccupy them until their IONs arrive in the mail? :)

Anyway, it's great to see this list has some Alesis employees as
members. I'm sure this exchange of ideas between consumer and
manufacturer/designer will benefit the continued development of the
ION (or something...).

Take care,

-Steven

You can do this with Ion. Each patch has a source, destination and
and amount parameter.

I know that, but can the destination be the amount of another patch?
So that if you have patch 1 routing lfo to filter 50%, can patch 2
use velocity modulate the amount of patch 1? (Get it?)

Now I see what you mean.

No, I don't think so, and it would be useful in some instances.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
