Thanks for the info. What I did was to dump all the individual files
together in Cakewalk, and tried to dump them all at the same
time. So,what you're saying is to do each section individually, correct?
I dumped the file,but got no prompt,so I figured I did something
wrong,but I didn't know what.Thanks,Colin!

I also tried the midi files as well as the sysex dump, but every time
I tried to open the midi file with the OS,my darn Yamaha XG works
come up and grabs it,when I'm trying to get it to Cakewalk. Is there
something I disable in XG to get it to leave stuff alone?I'm very new
at this midi stuff, being a guitar player for 25 years, these kinds of
things never came up!So,I'm learning something new,and when certain
programs try to grab things that I want elsewhere,it makes me
confused.I'm learning,but when something new comes up,I don't know
what to do.

That's odd - sys-ex is meant to be device specific! :)

Best thing is to download MidiOX from the link at the Alesis site
Its freeware.

When you run it - on the second menu - will be the entry sysex
select it, and then in the new window that opens select send sysex.
Locate the file and then Midiox will start sending

try this.

Yes, one section at a time :)

There should be a figure on the A6 screen showing how
far to go.

Well,I finally got the OS installed.Cakewalk would only take 1 mid
file at a time,so I ended up havingto open a file and then start
Cakewalk again,6 times to get the files all into Cake, and then it
wasn't hard. The hard part was trying to figure out why Cakewalk
wasn't working.I uninstalled XG works, and then I fought with Cakewalk
to load the files, but it's done! Now,for my micro Q.It's only one
file,so it shouldn't be hard.

Agreed. Midi-Ox is an awesome program, nothing to learn or setup in my case and it worked perfectly on the first try. So easy to use, I can even say flawless.

Hey are you on this mailing list?

if not - get on it :)
