Andromeda Demos

2004-08-11 by Mark Fenkner

I'm thinking about buying an Andromeda and wonder where there are
good demos of it. I don't know if it's just me, but I can't find
any demos on Alesis' website, which is hard to believe. Can anyone
recommend a website that has some good demos?

Thanks!

Mark

[ Incidentally, for A6 info, the code404 mailing list is
probably the best and most active. Find it here:
http://roland.code404.com/mailman/listinfo/a6 ]

The original demos for the A6 from musikmesse:
http://www.techfabrik.de/alesis/downloads/audiodemos.html

also here (may have to cut and paste this long link):
http://www.alesis.jp/index.html?http://www.alesis.jp/products/
ps_andromeda.html

It is inexplicable to me why these are not on the www.alesis.com
website. They should have been there from day one (not that
the flash demo isn't nice, but they need sample songs too)

There was a nice sound file archive (sysex and mp3s) at
the www.code404.com/a6 website, but it seems down at the moment.
That's unfortunate, because it really showed the variety of
sounds the A6 is capable of (it can emulate most of the usual
suspects pretty well--moog & oberheim obviously, and with a combo
of filters and feedback, you can get roland territory). One main
explorer of the A6s sound making potential has a site, where he
rotates a few sounds that were also posted on code404.com/a6:

very recent experiments with the andromeda from him:

Full songs, heavy on A6 (one person, two band names):

Any others? Is "Four" from Forbidden Star still online somewhere?
Maybe something that showcases the faster envelope settings?

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
