I am thinking of buying an andromeda...

2005-04-22 by Matt

I am thinking about buying an andromeda but I have a few questions first

I will only be able to spend around $1900 - Do you guys think that I
will be able to find one 2nd hand in good condition for around that
price easily?

I am selling my beloved (but not very analog sounding) nord lead 3 to
buy the A6- but I can't sell it unless I am %100 sure that I can find
an A6 in that price range.
I have seen them go on ebay anywhere bettween 1600-2500 so I am
confused as to what the adverage 2nd hand andromeda goes for.

also - this will be my only synth for a while, do you guys think it
covers enough sonic ground to be the only synth I have?
I am going to buy more but this is going to set me back a bit.

I make new wave, electro, dance and industrial.
from what I have heard it can cover all those sounds well.
also
are there any known problems I should look out for with this synth?

thanks
-Matt

Matt, I have one in excellent condition that I'd be willing to sell at
that price. Contact me at mtman_at_cloud9.net if you'd like to
discuss. (and sorry to everyone else for the spam, but I can't seem to
email directly)

Should be able to get one for that...

That is the truth! I had the NL3 and loved patching on it. The sound
capabilities of the A6 far surpass the NL3. Not even a close race.

Sure... as long as you are looking for analog style synthesis. You
will be lacking in drum sounds since there is no drum mode. You
cannot create full multi-timbral tracks with the A6 due to limited
voices, so you will need to do multi-track audio recording if you
are looking to produce complete musical pieces.

It may be useful to search the list archive at Yahoo groups. Also,
check out the A6 Tips and Tricks web page.
