Andromeda beta software 1.40.13?

2006-03-18 by droolmaster0

I see this mentioned in Mike Peake's Using A6 doc, but the link seems
to be dead. Is this version still available somewhere?

Just got my Andromeda yesterday....

I believe that there is a link in the doc itself, but alas the file is no longer there. I'm very interested in the beta OS as well. If anyone has it, can you please put up a link to it. That would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks

I realize this previous post is totally old -- but I want to upgrade
my os to the beta version as well. Does anybody have it? If so, can
you either email it to me, or post it to the Files area.

Thanks a ton.

Moreno -- thanks for the upload.

Bob -- i think this adds a new engine optimizer, but am not sure what
else. i intend to load this on my Andromeda once i get my new midi
interface in the mail. if i see anything of interest, i'll let you know.

I read the patch notes once, it fixes almost nothing, only the engine optimizer.
THat's why I never bothered to load it. I don't like things that say "Beta", could mean it isn't properly bug tested and thus bring several new bugs into the synth.

Life is pretty funny sometimes. I kid you not, days after me posting
this my Andromeda crashed during a program change. I am sincerely
hoping this was a one-off as I was turning another knob while I hit a
change program button. So, we'll see what happens.

A6 "ghost in the machine" behaviour

2007-10-22 by Lord Dags

Hi gang

I have noticed that the A6 shifts itself into one of the filter edit modes and will scroll through the parameters when hooked into an active, but non-utilised, MIDI interface.
When I manually go back to the program number page, it displays the 'e' (program has been edited) symbol.

Is there a way of preventing this from occuring while still enabling the A6 to be synchronised via MIDI?

I don't know if anybody is still around and even owns an A6, but I have the exact same problem as "Lord Dags" and I don't know what's causing it. First I thought it was incoming NRPN data that ableton had messed up, but that's not it (verified by Midi-ox on another computer). Somebody at gearslutz said resetting ribbon cable in the synth is supposed to fix this, but what was your fix?

Re: Andromeda beta software 1.40.13?

2019-02-02 by russ@...

Wow! This group is still active? Great! I was a bit surprised to receive this email this morning.

I don't know the exact nature of the issue you're seeing, and (knock on wood) I've not had any such issues with my Andromeda, but, I have heard that odd knob behavior is sometimes resoved by re-seating the ribbon cables inside the synth.

There's a discussion on this on Gearslutz:

Looks like there used to be a photo showing how to open the case, but it's not there anymore.

If you can't find the info, I've got a copy of the service manual in PDF format I could send you.

Re: Andromeda beta software 1.40.13?

2019-02-02 by schloesser75@...

yeah, I'm getting a bit desperate ;-) So I've been looking around for info on my problem, but of course there are not that many places with Andromeda info.

Anyway, my problem is not weird knob behaviour (except for the occasional jitter which is always quickly fixed), but that the andromeda suddenly only reacts to incoming nrpn data with huge delays, if at all. For example, I have a track where I modulate both filter cutoff frequencies (and nothing else). It used to work fine, but since 2 weeks it doesn't. First symptoms were all kinds of parameters changing (goes into filter edit mode, like Lord Dags" described in 2007 (!)), now not much happening anymore, yet sometimes some filter action.

I even re-recorded some filters movements into ableton, which worked fine, but playing them back shows the same symptom. Notes ALL get played just not the nrpn data correctly.
I changed a couple of thing last week because I thought I could enable knob movement nrpn (the ones under the display) while modulating arp stuff, but gave up on that because it didn't work.

And as the manual is not very clear on the differences: what is the difference between cc rx enable on the global "midi" page and rxmode enable on the "panel" page?

I'm trying to fix that problem without opening it up, but of course would be willing to do that as well.
Thanks for help!
Markus

Re: Andromeda beta software 1.40.13?

2019-02-02 by schloesser75@...

awesome! :-)
Maybe my question at the end wasn't that precise, what I wanted to ask:
Is the "Midi CC RX" just for the assignable A-H CC controllers and independent of NRPN (Global -> Panel -> RXMODE on) or do I need both enabled? Because afair I had MIDI CC RX off in the past.
Anyway it doesn't change anything, also a soft reset did not help. Now filters don't change via NRPN anymore at all. Guess time to open it up

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
