Hello -- We wanted to let you know that all 'fixes' and updates have been made to the Laurie Z. website. The broken links and streaming audio have been fixed. A Tribute page, written by Erin Graffy, has been added, along with a photo gallery and a new online music store http://www.lauriez.com . If you've visited the Laurie Z. website recently, you may have seen the new logo for Zebra Productions, Inc. This logo was designed by my business partner Ray Schneider. We surprised Laurie with the draft logo in December, 2005 when Ray and I met with Laurie in Morro Bay. And Laurie loved it! (Our web designer created the logo's final silhouette by using an actual photo of Laurie sitting at a piano.) Renewed marketing efforts started last year continue to generate daily airplay for Laurie's music. Tracks from Roots have recently been added on two Internet stations -- one in Italy and one in Spain. There are even two 24/7 Christmas programs on Live365 playing Laurie's music from 'Heart of the Holidays' on a daily basis. Keeping Laurie's musical legacy alive requires creativity. So I thought I might list for you here a few projects currently underway - * Kawai has released to us a demo entitled 'Sunrise' which Laurie created years ago for their digital piano series. We recently had Sunrise transcribed to sheet music by acclaimed pianist Michael Dulin. As a promotional effort, the sheet music and the Mp3 of Sunrise were offered to piano teachers in the South Bay and has been well received. Both the sheet music and the Mp3 are now for sale at the online music store at www.lauriez.com. We extend heartfelt thanks to Alan Palmer and Kawai for their generosity in releasing the demo. * International guitar sensation Steve Gibb, who is currently appearing on Broadway in the Toni Award winning Jersey Boys, is guitarizing Laurie's 'Invisibility' from Roots The Solo Piano Album. Steve plans to include Invisibility on his next recording and tells me he expects to be playing Invisibility often when he performs in concert -- and he plays a lot around the New York area. Thanks Steve. The guitar tablature for Invisibility should also be available soon. * Laurie was nearly 1/3 of the way through a new album. These tracks will be released in the future. Just recently I have also come across (on VHS tapes and mini discs) some of Laurie's unreleased improvisations created in concert. As you know, Laurie was known for her improvisations and she had planned one day to release a compilation. We continue to move forward steadily to fulfill Laurie's plans. * On May 24, 2007, a segment aired on CBS2 'K-9' about the horticulture students at the Nobel Middle School in Northridge, California and the Laurie Z. Rose Garden is mentioned. The garden was planted by Joe Montanez and his students in Laurie's memory. To view the segment in its entirety, please click on the link below.
