Boss VF-1 Effect Processor

I use still use mine daily (2018) it is a great bit of kit but i have never even tried to update it . I would also like to know if it is possible . Are there any recent (well more recent than the original factory setting) updates still available and does anyone know how to instal , if it's even possible ? If so from what Wilko Johnson ( be good if you were the real one) johnwilkinson12@yahoo.com has said i am missing out on a lot of potential that's been missing from my little red box.
