Lava: I tried to email you directly regarding VF1 patch editing software I am nearly finished writing that covers **ALL** VF1 algorithms, including Keyboard Multi. Unfortunately, Yahoo bounced the email back, saying your account was closed, lost in midi hell, etc :) Please email me if you have a PC/Midi setup, are interested, and have 6-8 hours to dedicate to beta-testing keyboard related portions of the software (details of which I will explain in my response). The testing itself is simple but tedious. The upside, once done, is that I can pretty much assure you that your days in VF1 Sysex hell will be permanently over (free of charge, in the event Roland and/or people on this newsgroup care to pay me for my software development time). My original intent was to control the VF1 via PC, but your email made me realize the same software, with a minor tweak, would be useful for anyone doing what you are trying to do, i.e. programming controllers to run the VF1, without the Sysex details/headaches. As for your immediate question, I don't have your controller, but the following Sysex should control the Ring Effect FX Level, when the VF1 is already set to Keyboard Multi, and with the Device ID set to the factory default (Device 1): In Hex: F0 41 00 00 23 12 10 01 28 00 64 ?? F7 In decimal: 240 65 00 00 35 18 16 01 40 00 100 ?? 247 Your controller should vary the 0-64hex (0-100 dec) for Level 0 - 100. The ?? is the required checksum byte, which the controller hopefully computes for you. If not, or if you have problems, please let me know. Eric
