Boss VF-1 Effect Processor

I hear ya!

I think that's one of the reasons the VF-1 never really went
anywhere...compared to say the PODs. Since the presets usually suck on
anything coming out of the Roland factory, and there was never a good way to
'share' VF-1 patches as there is with the POD series, I think a lot of
people in it's market stayed away. It's really too bad it's so difficult to
save/load patches with this unit, because, as you mentioned, as soon as you
get into it a little deeper and you unlock it's potential, it rocks. I love
mine, but I really wish editing/saving/loading patches externally would have
brought this product to the forefront of it's market. Too bad Roland doesn't
care, and good luck reaching anybody there. I've not been able to get proper
support from them in the last 20yrs.

I just got a VF-1 today.  I've read a lot of good things about it and it has
tons of options, but the presets really suck.  I've done some tweaking and
it does seem you can get some good sounds of it - of course I'll need to
experiment a lot to learn the full potential of the device.

It just surprises me that Roland would load such crappy presets.  
Even some teenage grunge or metal head wouldn't like them.  I also own a
Roland VG-8, and it's the same story - the presets suck.  Come to think of
it, even my Fender CyberTwin has crappy presets ;-)

Sorry for the rant.  I find the situation more comical than frustrating. :-)
