I own a Rocktron Midi Mate Footcontrlloer - same deal - 7 pins, receives
power, but only 5 pins on the VF-1.

BUT, Rocktron sells a cable premade, 5 pin with wall wart adapter input on
one end, with a 7 pin on the other end. Real heavy duty cable, made great.
I got it quite a while ago, and I recall it was expensive, so if David's
plans are easy, that may be the way to go.

I have been using a Digital Music Ground Control with my VF-1. The VF-1 MIDI
in is 5-pin without phantom power. The Ground Control is 7-pin MIDI out and
can receive phantom power on pins 1 and 2. I bought some MIDI connectors
from Mouser Electronics and made up a little cable harness so that I could
adapt 5-pins to 7-pins and insert phantom power from a wall transformer. I
then am able to use one 7-pin MIDI cable to connect the Ground Control to my
rack setup. If anyone is interested, I can make up a diagram.

If it's the kind of Digitech pedal that requires power from the
processor through the midi cable, it will not work. If it receives
power from a power cord or wall wart, it will work.
