Boss VF-1 Effect Processor

Sid,

I have the FCB-1010 and a VF-1.  The 1010 is a great controller, 
BUT...

1.  Does it have the latest firmware v 2.4.1B?  Anything earlier 
than 2.3.12 is so full of bugs, you'll drive yourself crazy trying 
to program it.

2.  The Behringer manual is the worst and trying to program using 
the pedals is a headache (at least for me).  The FCB-1010 Yahoo 
Group has a couple of PC-based editors in their Files section that 
work well.  They're both graphically-based so they're easy to use.  
I recommend the one by Ed Dixon, haven't used the other.

If you haven't done it yet, join that group.  They have a great FAQ 
page, plus an extensive collection of sysex files.  The major 
posters are willing to help out (if you've done your homework first, 
ie, read the FAQ).

AS far as reliability goes, I think the FCB is pretty good.  The 
only problem I've had is in the power switch - a bad contact I 
think.  Otherwise it's pretty robust.  Definitely a powerful 
controller, not quite an All Access, but you can't beat it for the 
price.

Hi,

Anybody using the combination Boss VF-1   Foot Controller FCB1010 ?  
I just want to know your opinion about this, eventually issues (if 
any). I want to take this gear on tour and I want to be very sure of 
it. Especially reliability.

About the programming: I find it particullary difficult. After hours 
of working I finally managed to connect the FCB with the VF-1 but 
only the Program Change pedals were functioning. It took few more 
hours to figure out how to work with Expression Pedals. Now it's Ok 
but I somehow lost my confidence in the reliability of the system. I 
don't know...
