RE: [BossVF1] Re: Anyone using a Yamaha MFC-10 with the Boss VF-1?

2006-08-01 by David Spangler

Hi Bert,

Using MIDI-ox I was able to figure out what I was sending to the VF-1 and,
incidentally, started understanding the MFC-10 manual. Now I am changing
patches, invoking the VF-1 tuner and controlling the volume.

Many thanks!!

Smilin' Dave

I'm not familiar with the MFC-10, but the first question would be what
CC (control change command) the expression pedal operates on? It
might be a fixed CC, or it might be able to send on any CC. This info
should be in the MFC-10 manual.

In the VF1, you would then set one of the Assigns (1-4) to accept as
input "MidiX" where "X" is the CC your pedal sends on. Also, in the
VF1 the "target" parameter for that same assignment would be set to
either "Foot Volume" or "Master Volume" or whatever else you wanted to
control. This needs to be done FOR EACH PATCH! I don't think the VF-
1 has a global setting for doing this. The Assign stuff is near the
end of the menus for each patch (scroll left to get there quickest).

Does that make sense?

Changing patches is easy. On your pedal, just program each pedal to
send out the desired PC (Program Change) command, where PC 1 will call
up User-A #1, PC 2 will call up User-A #2, etc. up through PC 128 will
call up User-B #28 Do you know how to get the MFC-10 to send PC
commands?

Bert
