Boss VF-1 Effect Processor

Hi !

I'm  really interested in trying to get Neil Young's
tone when is playing on heavier territories.
Best example is the Soundtrack to  "Dead Man" or
with Crazy Horse on "Sleeps with Angels".
Any info on how to achieve this bassy heavy distorted
tone or where to get that info would be greatly appreciated.

first of all the secret of this type of sound is to place the delay before 
the amp....not too long and with not too much repeat...
