Boss VF-1 Effect Processor

I'm using a fc-200 to control my Roland gp-100.
It works fine for all the 400 patches the gp-100 offers me.
The other day I bought the vf-1.
This is how I want to control both the gp-100 and the vf-1:
Fc-200 midi out > gp-100 midi in > gp-100 midi out/thru > vf-1 midi 
in.

Well, it does the job,..... except for the vf-1 user B patches 29 - 
100 (number 128 - 200 on my gp-100), it switches to user A patches 29 
- 100.

I've initialized my fc-200 using the gp-100 so it uses 40 banks 
containing 10 patches.
Very strange, anybody else out there with the same "problem" ??

One more question, what do I have to do to find out the vf-1 version 
(1.12 is the latest I quess)?
