VF-1 footswitch jack compatible with FCB1010 relay ?

2004-01-08 by gol159

Hi all,
i'm new to this group and i've got my VF1 for several month now.
As lot of people, i've bought a Behringer FCB1010 midi foot
controller in order to control my VF1 unit (i dont have it for the
moment, just ordered it on monday, hope it will be at home next week).
As many of you, i'm a bit disappointed by the only 4 CC available on
my VF1. So an idea comes to me but i dont know if it is technicaly
possible and safe: using the amp switch capabilities of the FCB, i
wonder if i could control the VF1 via the exp pedal 1/4 jack.

I m not sure it is possible. Moreover, i m not sure it is safe
because the VF1 manual says that the foot switch devices must be Boss
FS5L or FS5U, and other devices could damage the VF1. I guess its for
money... they dont want to say "Buy another device than our! It does
the same thing for less money!"... But perhaps it is right that
another device will damage my VF1...

So tell me what you are thinking about this, please!
Is there anyone using the FCB relay switch for controlling the VF1
(or other amp channel switch)?

Thanks a lot.
Nicolas

As far as I remember the manual you have 4 CC be it pedal, switch or
MIDI.
So you may as well have stayed with just a MIDI foot controller...

I used a cheap yamaha and a non brand (latch) footswitch for a while.
The vf-1 survived.

Oupss! You're right! Confusion is CC and Assignable parameters. Because
i read in this list that there are only 4 CC, i was thinking about midi CC. But in fact
this is 4 assignable parameters, whatever is the way (midi, pedal/switch) for control...

Sorry guys... But, at least, i have learnt one thing: you can use another device than Boss for
exp pedal..
Thanks. Good night!
