New files up-loaded

Hi everyone

Just to let you know I've up-loaded my VZ1 presets (VC and Opmem). These are presets I've been working at over the last few months and I hope you enjoy them. Some you'll already have but some are my own creations.

Could you tell something about the sounds? What kind of genre those are
best for?
Good for experimental electronic, ug tekno, IDM, ambient?

I'd say this was a mixed bag of sounds. What I found from using the VZ over the last year or so is that it does some things better than others so I've concentrated on the things it does well (other than bell sounds which it does well but I hate).

There's a load of keyboard sounds ranging from electric pianos to poly keys, lots of pads (which I love), some lead synths (mono and poly) and, from memory, absolutely NO BELLS! There's a few ambient type sounds in the Opmem banks G and H. There's a few vocal pads, too.

I'm still working on them and will upload a new version in a few month's time.

New files up-loaded

Jonathan;

Thank you for uploading and sharing your creations with the VZ community. I have been working on trying to get the patch editor to communicate with my VZ-1 and have not been having to much luck. I am guessing you are programming on the synth itself and not using a patch editor, if you are which one and what are your procedures for saving vc+op data and uploading vc+op data back to the synth. What channel are you using in midi and does it make a difference using other channels for loading and saving other than Channel One? Thank you for your time and effort.

I Have a vz10m / I too have had no luck doing anything with the windows editor.I follow all the on screen commands, and it does nothing but lock my computer up .I have tried to save sounds ,and load sounds.my vz seems to be cooperating,I had to turn off my memory protect,I had to enable on menu 3-4 menu3-2 I try to save/midi/vc-op/yes it executes, and tells me save ok,but the computer just keeps waiting endlessly.Anyone have a clue why? I have the exact editor on a disc I purchased a while back, and it never worked either.I have tried three different types of midi interfaces.I have an old mp-401 style.A m- audio single, and a yamaha single.None of them make a difference.

Re: New files up-loaded

2009-03-13 by jonathan_01uk

You're welcome to my uploads. Hope you find them useful in some way or another.

I do use an editor program, frankly trying to do much via the synth itself is impossibly long winded. Unisyn works OK as long as once you've done your edits and sent the patch to the synth you must ask for it back straight away otherwise Unisyn rewrites the patch back to the old settings. I don't think the channel settings make a difference as long as the editor program uses the same as the synth but I do always use channel 1 anyway.

One thing I forgot to mention about my uploads is that a lot of the Opmem patches are panned hard left and right - this is so I can have 2 similar patches, say for an EL piano, and record the part and then decide to use either the left or right or the two combined.

Ask away if you want to know more about Unisyn. I could upload some screen grabs if it would help.

Hi Vince,
I don't think the problem will be your midi interface. Which editor are you using? I've used MOTU Unisyn with reasonably good success. It sounds like your doing all the VZ things correctly. When I get a chance, I'll try and write down the steps I take and upload them for you.
cheers,
Jonathan

Re: [CZ-VZ-Files] Re: New files up-loaded

2009-03-14 by Vince

I was trying the editor in the vz files secrtion.I have a hard copy of the same editor I bought off ebay a couple of years back.I had problems from the start back than.I have been experimenting a lot more with fm and wanted to give the vz some attention.Saw the new post of files uploaded so I checked it out,and hear we are.I have never been able to send or use any other patches besides the on board originals. My screen is very hard to read so playing around with the parameters is hard.
