VZ patch lists

VZ patch lists

2009-08-17 by Doug

VZers;

    Thanks Clifton for the posting of your hard work, I think I have the previous set 1 in my VZ-1 right now. Are these sets voice and operational patches or just voice, how many patches per set? Do you have patch lists for the names of the patches in the sets? Thank you.

    I have posted patch lists for the rom cards which are available in the files section but not listed in the users manual. You can find these lists in the files section / folder VZ DOCS / rom card lists. I have completed two whole rom cards lists and will be adding more as progress. These are done on an old excell spreadsheet so anyone can use these as a template for making more and posting them in the folder for all to share. Thanks to anyone who helps me out with these lists.

Hi Doug and I thank you so much for the kind words. Anyay in cliffs set-1 there are 64 voice patces and 64 operational patches, for cliffs set-2 there are 64 voices patches and 19 operational patches and for cliffs set-3 again 64 voices and 19 operational patches. Im glad that you've mentioned this and hopefully i'll get a chance to edit my postings later on. Unfortunatly I don't have a list of patch names to be displayed. I thought it would be time consuming to type all them down again but all the voice names are within the files once you fire up your VZ. I thank you also for an idea of posting patch lists. I thought that was a great idea to share this with everyone and hopefully i'll get a chance later on to check out your hard work on this. Again I thank you so much.

Clifton

Vince;
   I am using Windows 2000 on an ancient Dell workstation 410 with dual P3's. If memory serves, I am at work and not in the studio to review my notes, I use the syx versions of the patches from the files section here in the group. I use midiOx (I think) to load patches, use Midi channel 1 (one) and dont forget to set the menus on the VZ-10m to allow for loading of files. I will review my procedure tonight and post my procedure for you tomorrow. Hope it works for you.

     I have not had any luck using a patch editor of any kind for use with my VZ-1. If someone out there has had success with an editor for these synths, it is easy to use, and you dont have to have the latest and greatest operating system to use it, let the community know what it is.

Sounddiver works fine, but it's a bit hard to get...

When it comes to DLLs, in case of doubt put it in the same directory
with the executable. In this case /WINDOWS/SYSTEM should work as
well...

I do have midi ox,but have no experience using it.Have you tried or had any luck with the vz software on the site files section?I'll try anything at this point.I just got my pc working again after a total crash.Luckily I saved everything to 10 dvds for backup.Most of the freeware I have tried comes with no directions on setup.That is the biggest problem.all trial,and error, makes it very frustrating.Thankyou very much for any assistance.

Vince;

     Are we talking about stickly transferring patch files to your 10m, or editing patches in software? I have had NO luck using the VZ patch editor to transfer files to the vz-1, tried many scenarios, none ever worked. I have used the editor briefly but saving a patch yields a dot VZ1 file format and the files available here are in dot syx format. No one has explained to me how they saved to a dot syx format from the patch editor, if at all possible, or how they converted the dot VZ1 file to the dot syx format.
     My procedure is for the loading of syx format files into the VZ from a computer, not an editor. All of the ROM card files and folks who have uploaded patches have posted dot syx format patch files. Like I said, I will post my loading procedure tomorrow for you.

On the editing issue, about 4 or 5 years ago phonophie introduced me to a program written for the Atari. I got it to work with Steem, an Atari emulator for a PC running Windows.

As for transferring sysex banks between a PC and your VZ, midi-ox, if you have it, should work. (I don't use it, but I have tested it with sending and receiving sysex commands.) You can also use a sequencer that can handle sysex banks.

I have the VZ-8m. To get sysex banks into the VZ, I do the following:
(1) Set the VZ so it will receive sysex.
(2) Unprotect VZ memory.
(3) Set the VZ channel to the same channel that was used to save the bank.
(4) Set the VZ to the type of data it will be receiving (Voice, Voice + Op-Mem, Full).
(5) Go through the VZ menu to find Load, then MIDI, then execute, then yes (or some sequence like that.
THEN I send the file to the VZ.
If the file is received correctly, the VZ says "OK."

There are several error message I sometimes receive. I forget which is which, but the one means that the midi channel of the VZ is not the same as in the file. (Cliff's are Channel 1). You get a different error message when memory is protected or sysex is not enabled. (I knew what these were at one point and posted the info. Phonophobie put it and other info into a Tips file.)

Hope this helps.

VZ patch lists

VZers;

    Got a little time last evening to upload Cliff's newest set (or I think the second to latest posting) to my VZ-1. WOW, some of those patches in set one (all I got to) were truely great. I had so much fun with the modeled flute and the tabla patches specifically. I look forward to exploring sets two and three. Thanks Cliff, great stuff.

    Anyways, I took the time while exploring to document the patches in set one completely, both Normal and Operational voices, please go to the documents page in this group, folder VZ-DOCS, and inside there I have posted the ROM card patch lists (what I have done so far) and Cliff's set 1 recently added today.

    Like I said, I look forward to sets two and three, I will document those as well, Thanks Cliff.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
