You could try to use an ATARI Emulator and (now) free ATARI Editor Software. The Windows Version supports MIDI maybe the Linux Version does too... http://www.blimey.strayduck.com/download.htm Check the links section for the Editor Software... ...Summa On 9 Feb 2003 at 16:26, P........ phd76er@... wrote: > I plan to make music with Linux OS and I'm desperately looking for a > good editor/librarian for Casio CZ sizers, anyone help me out, pleez? > > > > To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: > CZsynth-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com > > > > Your use of Yahoo! Someone is advertising a CZ5000 for sale in my town and I was wondering how much better is it then the CZ1000. I have done some internet research and I see that it has more 'effects' then the CZ1000. What are these effects? Someone also mentioned the lack of filters on the 1000 so I gather the 5000 has some sort of filter system. What sort of filters are they? Thanks in advance! Alan

Hi Alan, compared to the CZ1000 the CZ5000 has 16 DCOs instead of 8 and a built in Sequenzer. None of the CZs has a built in filter, just DCWs... When it comes to the FX it's only the analog Chorus I can think of... ...Summa On 24 Feb 2003 at 12:29, Alan Holt wrote: > Someone is advertising a CZ5000 for sale in my town and I was > wondering how much better is it then the CZ1000. Hi, > Also, isn't the 5000 velocity sensitive? The CZ1000 > is not. No, only the CZ-1 is velocity sensitive. Hellmuth

How much better than the 1000? Here is a comparison of their respective features: Feature: CZ-1000 CZ-5000 Power: Battery/adapter Mains only Keyboard: Full-size, 4 octaves Full-size, 5 octaves Controls: Pitch-bend Pitch-bend, vibrato Memories: 16 64 Polyphony: 1/2/4/8 1/4/8/16 Multitimbral: 4 channels 8 channels Modes: Mono, layer, poly Mono, layer, poly, split Effects: - Stereo chorus Pedal inputs: - Sustain, volume MIDI: In, Out In, Out, Thru Additionally, the 5000 has a step-time multitimbral sequencer which, although somewhat dated may be useful. It should be also noted that the 1000 does not respond to sustain pedal info via MIDI. Simon Beck London, UK

No, the ONLY velocity- (and after-touch-) sensitive model is the CZ-1, which I own. Additionally, it features performance memories, alphanumeric patch naming and something like 128 or 256 patch memories. No sequencer though... Simon

The 'effects' is really only a Chorus. A very nice chorus I think, but still only a chorus. Unfortunately it affects all voices at the same time. The only Z-series instrument that has filters are the FZ's. The CZ and VZ series have phase distortion envelopes that can sound very much like analogue filters, but they are still not filters. The CZ 5000 differs from the CZ 1000 in that it's got an onboard sequencer, a 5 octave keyboard, keyboard split and keyboard layer functions. It also doubles the polyphony. In short, the CZ 5000 is allmost the same synthesizer as the CZ 1000, but a more powerful synthesis engine due to it's layering capabilities, and it's a better keyboard, especially for live use.
