Hi,
I have seen before:
http://lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=13
but considered such things out of my price range. My FZ disk is currently working, but I do not like depending upon it as I suspect it won't last forever. I tried the MIDI connection which has complex handshaking and I had half an idea of using the parallel port until I found that I may need peculiar software and "this may bust your PC" - so any form of storage for FZ is handy. I only wish I was smart enough to build such a dongle...perhaps with a PIC chip.
Hello,
I am new in your group but I have to share this info with you.
First of all, I have also a DSS-1 with Lotharek's floppy emulator SD which works great with HFE images (I will explain later what kind of image is this). I have downloaded a great collection to mountable disk images for it and decided to check if it could work to my other vintage sampler, the Casio FZ-1.
So, yesterday I replaced the floppy of my FZ-1 with this interface.
Lotharek's site has a tool "HxCFloppy Emulator" which works under windows and grabs Casio FZ-1 disks and saves into a raw disk image. It took a lot to my Pentium 4 PC but it finally did the job and read the real FZ disk...
This image is not mountable therefore there is another option in this software which converts the disk image to HFE, let's say it is the disk image, but mountable from the sampler.
This HFE image has larger size than the raw disk image produced by software (as it may contains a filesystem) and can be easily copied to a SD card.
Let's say we have done this process for some sample disks.
Then you turn on your FZ, select (lock) the mountable disk image you wish from the interface and go to your FZ menu to load the bank/full etc...
It works to me :-)
I have not tested to format a mountable disk image but I am sure it will work as DSS-1 do.

The FZ needs some messing with I believe. I'd love to get the parallel port connection, but I've never got that or the MIDI dump system to work. I hate having to rely on the floppy.
