No one on this list volunteered to layout the PCB in a more buildable size but someone did help me buy a small prototype quantity of boards. I didn't want to see this project die, so I cleaned up the layout, re- routed the ground plane and power, and added silk screen and solder mask. Due to the limited space, I had to leave four parts as 1/8 watt resistors and the layout and clearances are still very tight. Otherwise, it is a clean layout. I have built one prototype and verified operation with an oscilloscope on my bench. I have not built this version of the PCB into a complete module but have no reason to believe it is not 100% functional. Photos of the bare board and assembled board are in my photo album at "Photos > Dave Brown > CVS PCB rev 2 with solder mask and silk" and "Photos > Dave Brown > CVS PCB rev 2 assembly" I have also updated my design documentation in my files folder "Files > Hardware > CVS Module > ComputerVoltageSource Module 7-20-07 design.pdf" and "Files > Hardware > CVS Module > ComputerVoltageSource Module 7-20-07 pcb.pdf" There are also a couple of test programs in the same folder. I have just a couple of extra prototype boards that I will sell given the following conditions: 1. You must be able to build the board from the schematic, parts list, and layout. That's all the documentation there is and I will do. 2. You must build 100% of the board soon and not let it sit. 3. You must be able to solder the SMT parts. It requires a fine tip soldering iron, magnifying headset, and steady hands. 4. You must be able to validate 100% functionality including MIDI and the LCD_Support PCB. 5. You must add to the documentation. It would be nice to verify the parts list and create additional documentation for building and checkout of the board. 6. You must post status updates to keep the list informed of progress. 7. You must be able to debug it yourself if there is a problem. There is no warranty, implied warranty of merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Every effort has been made to verify correctness but cannot be guaranteed. When there are several of these boards functioning and we are satisfied with the correctness, I will post the design file. I am not interested in ordering and selling boards. They are affordable in quantities greater than eight with a 10 day process. People who are interested in the board will have to figure out how to pool together for an order. It was never my intention to do this project alone. I have several CVS specific programs and a complete software template that is available and it will also run programs written for the PSIM. I still hope that someday there will be a community of people who can exchange programs. The power of a project like this is the availability of software. I also hope that someone will create documentation for various configurations. It is quite easy to build this as in a 4 channel, 8 channel, CV input only, CV output only, and MIDI-only configurations. It is also expandable via the I2C interface and I have also designed a board (design file already posted) that add 16 additional 8 bit A/Ds and 16 additional digital inputs/outputs. I believe John Loffink still has some quantities of the LCD_Support PCB. The original LCD is not available so you also have to be capable of modifying two traces on that PCB.
