Sorry to be so quiet lately... work's been a bear. I recently finished a collection of 76 sampled loops from the Evolver that I posted at ampfea/Samplelibrary. Following is a link to the page at Samplelibrary that lists all the files I've uploaded: http://www.ampfea.org/sln/browse.php?num=3&a_id=173 All the Evolver Loop archives start with the text "DSI Evolver", so they're close to the top of the list. Note that other than the Evolver loops, most of the files I've posted at Samplelibrary are in EX5 format. However, there are three or four other .WAV collections I posted there (one is quite large) if you want to window shop a bit! - - - - - Should you care to take a look, we have a bit of Evolver discussion going on at EX5Tech too, at the following links: "Other Misc Hardware" forum http://www.ex5tech.com/ex5ubb_cgi/ultimatebb.cgi? ubb=get_topic&f=7&t=000352 "Voices/Samples" forum http://www.ex5tech.com/ex5ubb_cgi/ultimatebb.cgi? ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=000444 - - - - - I managed to sample all the sequences I programmed on beta unit #0002 prior to having to ship it back to Dave. They were actually sampled FROM this beta unit, too, rather than from the production unit (#00009) I have. So, they should sound exactly as they did when I programmed them. Nearly all of these sequences are included in the presets of the production Evolvers. I also made quite a few patches (which didn't include sequences) that ended up in the presets, too. All in all, I sent Dave 140 sounds. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to sample some examples of these non-sequenced sounds from the beta unit. When I get some extra time, I may sample them from the production unit. There are a grand total of 76 sampled sequences, and I carefully trimmed and looped each one of them. I have copies in both .wav and .mp3 format, though the .mp3's don't contain loop points. These loops are LONG - most are over 10 seconds - so you can really get a flavor of how well the sounds on the Evolver can, well... evolve! Also included in the collection are some pictures of beta unit #0002 and my production unit #00009. Because of the length, the .wav files are quite large - they weigh in at a grand total of nearly 240 mb! The .mp3 files are much smaller, of course, at under 22 mb. Because of the size, I've broken the collection up into four sets of 19 sounds each. Furthermore, each of the four .wav sets are broken into four files each. If at all possible, I'd recommend you download the .wav files. The .mp3's are much smaller, and good for a quick demo, but the .wav files are much better quality, and looped. If you download the .mp3 files with the idea of converting them to .wav and then looping them, you'll have to do some trimming first, and then some careful looping (the Sound Forge mp3 algorithm leaves some dead space at the beginning and end of the files, and it's tough to tell exactly where to put your loop points). If you get the .wav files, they're ready to go; you can use them in your music, and/or load them into your sampler. Be sure to listen to these demo loops through some good monitors. There's some great detail and quality in the Evolver's sound (and my sequences) that you'll miss if you listen with cheap computer speakers. One little disclaimer... :O As I said in my post above, these demo loops cover EVERY sequence I provided to Dave Smith. That means, "the good, the bad, and the ugly"! Again, the *vast* majority of them are included in the Evolver's presets. That said, there ARE a few real lemons in there! And that's coming from the guy who programmed them! ;) I like most of them a lot, though, and I hope you will, too. 8ยท) A huge thanks to Dave for the Evolver, to Ravi for hosting this discussion group, and to all the rest of you that are helping each other out here. Enjoy! Ski www.ex5tech.com
