so.. has anyone written anything cool with their evolver lately? I have to say, I've started getting much more subtle with my evo programming. when I first started it was all about wiggly whacked out unsynched LFO FX ramble walls of noise, but as much as I loved it, I couldn't find any way to make it work with other things.. I nearly sold it once or twice, but the wall of noise sillyness was so much fun, and the rawness of its sound was so engaging, even though I couldn't use it I loved it. so I kept it just for my own amusement rather than a serious part of my instrument collection.... kind of like a music toy. I get the feeling a lot of people had exactly the same issues with it, from what I read here over the last few years.. Anyway - finally, I think I actually learned how to use it in a way that works for me... I've been using it for simple bass and synth sounds, with most modulations/sequencer turned right down or even off, distortion/hackfeedback and delay left right alone... like I'm aiming for it to pretend it's just an SH101 most of the time.... It makes a really beautiful solid sound thats all its own when you do this, and that way all the weird possibilities are kept in reserve for the occasional mod wheel controlled wigout. Me and my partner are starting to record a new album now, and I'm really optimistic that the evolver will be making some very major appearances in it... .........just thought I'd share my recent positive experiences. :-) julian
