Re: [Evolver] Anyone done a harmonica sound on Evolver?

2005-06-14 by Richard Scott

I've had some sucess modelling wind instruments on the evolver by syncing two different pulse widths and then modulating them using breath, note value, velocity or whatever... I made a really interesting muted trumpet/soprano sax bastard child intrument this way, which I use a lot. I don't know for sure if this method will make a harmonica but its an interesting place to begin.
I also think it may be worth listening to the digital waveforms, I think there are some harmonica-like tones there which could be another place to begin
of course, the yamaha vl modelling does this stuff very easily... I'd always assumed Fagen used something like that

I am reasonably sure that Lyle Mays used the Prophet to do the *very* nice harmonica soloduring the begining of "Are You Going With Me" on Pat Metheny Group's album "Offramp."
