RE: [Evolver] Re: Patch Contest

2003-01-08 by Don Gothard (dg)

As a suggestion I would add that rather than a "patch contest" which
implies some competition and reward, we do whats been done successfully
several times on the waldorf forum and make a "User Forum Soundset"
instead. Basically one person volunteers as the organizer gathers a
list of who and how many patches each user is going to contribute posts
this list to the forum, sets a deadline and everyone sends their patches
to this organizer.

The organzier than puts the entire set of patches together in a soundset
that usually consists of midi files, sysex files, sounddiver library
file and even a text file with descriptions and directions. This
soundset is then posted for everyone to get access to, and they are then
free to choose which method to load it into their synths. This method
has worked quite well and their have already been at least 3 soundsets
each for the Q and MWXT. Any thoughts ?

So then in regard to naming patchfiles, whether midi or sysex, a naming
structure would be good. I.e., "type.name.location" ie.
"bass.moog3.b2p45.mid" or "lead.killerz.b1p3.syx"

or something like that . . .

suggestions . . .
