Dave Smith Instruments SYNTHESIZERS

Anu Kirk says in his excellent  Guide to Evolver that it is possible 
to enter notes directly into the sequencer using a midi keyboard

I have not been able to do so on my desktop evolver...although every 
other function works perfiectly via midi.

I am using the Soundtower Eitor...

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
