there's a couple of ways you could make "alien spacecraft landing" sounds. The key is to modulate oscillator pitch with a triangle LFO (modulation amount set to taste, speed set to taste) I'd use just the one oscillator, set to a triangle wave to start. (so turn off all other oscs by setting their level to zero!) but maybe if you wanted you could add different oscillators in later with different octaves & waveforms set? I'd have the filter totally open, resonance down, and the VCA envelope set to act like a gate (A=0 D=0 S=100 R=0) but maybe if you wanted, you could play with the A and D parameters to give the sound a fade in and fade out. That way when you hit a key you get a pitch modulated oscillator, and you can bend the overall pitch down or up with the pitchbend wheel. you could also use envelope 3 to modulate the oscillator pitch, in place of using the pitchbend wheel.... A=0 D(set to taste) S=0 R=0) There's a really good PDF made by someone on this list a while ago that goes into massive detail on synthesis using an evolver... if you are a newbie to programming synth sounds, this guide can teach you a hell of a lot. it's on carbon11's evolver website (which has a few cool tips of its own!!) http://www.carbon111.com/evolver.html the actual guide is here: http://www.carbon111.com/evolverguide.pdf On Sun, 08 Oct 2006 17:25:57 -0000, "potterpaint2000" <potterpaint2000@...> said: > Being new to synths I'm having a ball playing with my Evolver > keyboard, but I can't seem to produce what is called a "alien > spacecraft landing" sound, blasts of raygun-like oscillations heard in > the "Moog" documentary. Can this sound be produced by the Evolver > Keyboard? A step by step explanation would be appreciated if possible. > Many thanks!!! > > > > > > > > > Yahoo!
