Re: [Evolver] UPDATE Regarding CV1 & CV2 (pedal) inputs!!!

2007-05-22 by Dale (Inquisitor Betrayer)

in my case I also want to try other modulation paths from audio effects in etc...
btw .. I picked up a GR-20 Roland for my Les Paul .. so far I managed to install the pick up
and go thru the presets on it .. next is input to the synths .. i.e. the PEK ... ;-)
thanks for posting this .. I'll have to watch the output levels of some of the pedals and effects I have ..
wondering about the response time

Hey guys, I wrote to DSI a couple days ago asking what voltages are safe to run through the CV1 & CV2 pedal inputs.
Here is my question:
I have a question regarding the pedal/CV inputs on the PEK.

What voltage is safe to run through them?

ie I have a modular synth, would it be safe to run its LFO, EG, etc through the pedal/CV inputs on the PEK??? Will audio rate voltages (volt/octave) hurt the synth if I run a VCO through it?

I'm not going to try this until I hear back from you guys as I don't want to ruin my board, however it is a feature I would like to exploit if I can (if it is safe and won't void my warranty).

Thanks,
Jim
Here is my answer:
Hi James:
The CV input responds to a range of 0 to 5 volts. It is protected from higher and negative voltages, so you shouldn't have to worry about damaging it. Audio rate voltages won't hurt anything, but the inputs are heavily filtered, so it will not respond to fast CVs. Slower LFOs, envelopes, etc., will work fine.
Cheers,
Andrew McGowan

So.... modulate away fellow Evolverers!!
