RE: [DSI Synths] mono evolver desktop power issues?

2008-11-19 by Iain Bryden

I don't know if this is your issue, but try a different MIDI cable. A
few months ago a bad midi cable connecting a keyboard controller caused
patch changes, dead keys, random messages, and midi overload in my
Roland XV 5080. At first I thought it was the keyboard controller until
I replaced it for a new model and had the same problem. Perhaps the midi
overload I experienced in the Roland manifests itself differently (dead
power, random switching, etc.) in the EVO.

You can also buy a non-DSI power adaptor.

My mono desktop is acting kooky - sometimes when I plug in the power
cable, it just sits there, dead. Other times I'll be playing along and
suddenly it will reset or randomly switch to another patch and start
the sequencer, or other haphazard behavior. I bought it second-hand
and have had no other problems other than that the original owner
crimped up the power cord in some sort of little box next to the plug
(strain relief or something?).

Anyone has weird power issues? I snapped apart the actual plug and put
it back together just in case it was something with that...
