Re: [DSI Synths] Evolver Guide 2.0 in progress

I also agree with everything Iain and Magnus have said.

I would also like to see an in depth review of the different trigger modes in respect to the polyevolver. The trigger modes do not necessarily operate as one would expect, and the manual doesn't cover them very well.

Anu!

I´m glad you are putting out a second edition. The first one was great. Learned a lot from it. I just want a pdf so I can print it myself though I would like to pay for it. These are the additions I would like to see:

- If its possible to create a comb-filter from the delay and feedback routing.

- Other fxs based on delay, feedback, etc besides the ones mentioned in the first edition if there are any. Tape delay maybe? (Urs names some in the Uhbik manual http://www.uhbik. com/download/ Uhbik_GuideEngli sh.pdf )

- More filter fx examples.

- More percussive examples under Drum Sounds.

Best,
Magnus

I'll buy one, even if only to show my appreciation for the outstanding effort in your original guide.
My preference is for soft cover because it will be cheaper and easier to carry around in a case, gig bag, etc. Cheaper means you might sell more too. I don't think color would be of any great benefit, and it will raise the cost. A cheaper price will win out over a prettier book. You will have enough praises from we book owners that color and hardcover won't be necessary to push sales.
Additions I would love to see:
- an index
- a list of MIDI controller values
- a companion website with audio samples of the DIY patches
- multi-mode explained in depth
- a glossary

Fellow Evolver-heads:
I am (finally) working on the "second edition" of the Definitive Guide.

I am correcting numerous inaccuracies in the original text.
I am adding more tips, tricks, and best practices.
I am adding information about/specific to the Poly Keyboard.

If you have suggestions, comments, or tips you want to share, please let me know.

If you have topics you want me to go into which the original didn't cover, let me know.

Finally, my plan is to "publish" this as an actual hold-in-your- hands book through Blurb.com.

Blurb has several different sizes available, as well as hard cover and soft cover options. If I do black and white pages at 5"x8", the softcover would be $7 and the hardcover would be $21, assuming I don't try to actually make any money selling them.

Would you prefer a larger size and color pages for more cost?

I will offer both hard- and soft-cover versions. Having already made both before, I can say the hardcover is a top-notch quality product.

Thanks!
