I would strongly suggest making a separate pair of end caps and swap them out rather than painting the stock caps. First, if you ever sell your poly (don't do it man!!!) you'll do better with the stock parts. Second, if you screw it up then you'll end up making a second pair anyways and not have your stock caps. As far as making black end caps here are a few ideas. These are off the top of my head. I'd recommend talking to someone at a woodworking store like Rockler's or a good quality lumber or paint store: 1 - Get any kind of hardwood of decent quality, cut and drilled to size and use a good quality black enamel or, even better, black laquer. 2 - Get a good quality hardwood that will take a stain and that has a nice grain pattern. Cut and drill. Then use a semi transparent black stain and a good finish that will let the grain show through. that could look classy. You may also be able to tint some tung or teak oil black and do it that way. It would probably end up looking a very dark grey with black grain showing. 3 - Get real fancy and have someone machine some aluminum caps and have them anodized black. --- In DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com, "vorbedacht" <robert.lasater@...> wrote: > > Quick question, I'm looking to paint the wooden end caps on the poly evolver keyboard black and was wondering what would work best if anyone else has some some sort of similar modification for aesthetic purposes. > > Best wishes! >
