if the kenton control freak will send sysex, then sure you could edit with that. The easiest way I know of to find those sysex strings is to use something like midi-ox or ctrlr.org software to view the stream travelling through your pc. ctrlr.org will give you a desktop or vst version of the editor too, so that might be useful to you.
