New OS

New OS

2003-09-29 by trippler@t-online.de

Hello all,

Just back from Ireland, where I spent some beautiful free days
After some twiddling I finally managed to install OS 1.6. my Midex-8 didn't
want to transfer the OS as long other midi data were received
simultaneously. I had to swith off all older devices that send active
sensing and the Evoler midi clock out before the transmission was finally
successful.
Looking forward to test the new features...

I was extremely proud to detect some of my sounds in bank4 ;-) But still I
am not sure, how Evolver owners use sounds that do not respond to midi note
numbers. My sounds were originally programmed to respond to midi, but Ski
told me that many Evo owners don't have a midi keyboard connected, and in
that case my patches would always play on the deepest possible note C0 or
so, so he reprogrammed them with fixed pitch.
So, how do you use an Evolver without keyboard ? Do you transpose in
realtime with the transpose or frequency buttons ?

Regards
Stefan

Have an external sequencer (like the Machinedrum :-) do the transpose
triggering for you. Or (my favorite trick) you can have the Evolver's
LFO's do the transposing for you every couple of measures or so.
