Midi Note/Midi Velocity??

Midi Note/Midi Velocity??

2004-01-04 by Edward Majcher

To follow up on my last post...are these
parameters completely useless as destinations to
the internal synth engine?

Second...when a parameter has a velocity
parameter associated with it, does this only
apply to external midi velocity coming from a
keyboard or external sequencer?

Cool synth...miserable manual : )

And... a follow up to my last reply... :)

Once again, MIDI Note Number, and Velocity, are modulation SOURCES,
not DESTINATIONS.

When you play the Evolver with a MIDI keyboard, the MIDI Note Number
values and the Velocity values that you play can be used to modulate
*anything* that's on the Evolver's list of Modulation Destinations
(things such as Filter Cutoff, LFO Speed, Volume levels, etc.).

I highly recommend you get the PDF version of the manual, print the
Modulation Sources and the Modulation Destinations lists, and keep
them close by your Evolver for reference. They're invaluable.

ok...starting to make sense...I kept trying to use them in the sequencer as a way to
program it like a TB-303, assuming Midi note would change the osc frequency, and
velocity would change the vca level, now I see that these are for use with an external
keyboard.

Thanks

No problem. The sequencer can modulate oscillator frequency and
level directly (osc freq and level are modulation destinations).
Those are two of the first things on the list of modulation
destinations. Trust me; it's easy to do what you want to do.

just wondering... I have a PEK...
You can specify these (MIDI Note Number, and Velocity) as destinations
in the sequencer.

Will these (MIDI Note Number, and Velocity) only modulate the midi
output? As meaning it will effect an external synth.

not sure, but you could have the sequencer go to the osc's pitch and
amp env instead.
pretty much same thing?

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
