Sorry about the sort of clueless question here but... I want to use the evolvers sequencer essentially as an arp. How do I set the evolver so that the sequencer only runs when the a key on my controller is pressed? Thanks for any thoughts anyone has.

I believe you want "NS" for the "trigger select" parameter. Joe.

Hi Dodging Rain, Fancy seeing you here. You have two options the aforementioned MS trigger mode, which allows the sequencer to run with a midi note gating the output. Also, there is the MSr mode which operates the same way but retriggers the sequence first.

I think part of my confusion stems from the editor on dave's site and the manual. The manual uses abreviations (as on the evolver) while the editor attempts to use human readable text, figuring out which is which isn't always obvious. Maybe in the editor it should have the abreviation from the manual in () after the human readable text. Also whenever I send midi clock to the evolver the sequecer runs(or at least the lights do), find that a little odd as well. But I figured out what I need thanks to everyone's help.

It's Sinner6. As far as the sequencer...it should only run when it recieves the "start" command. Cubase SX has the unfortunate limitation that it sends clock only when the sequencer is running. There are some cases where you may need to make the first step be a "RST" in the sequencer to nullify this effect.

Ah, ok, you are an HC junky. I don't have a problem with cubase not sending clock unless it's running, I just tend to mute all the other tracks and have cubase loop while I program. My biggest headache is the midi device manager and it constantly reseting the patch I'm on (yah, I would like it to read my mind, why can't it do that?) Having the evolver's sequencer start when cubase starts really threw me, I'm used to things like the ms2000, and every other synth I've ever delt with, where you have to setup the sequencer in the patch otherwise it doesn't run. I prefer that over the way the evolver's sequencer is setup. Ah well, it works as is, just have to get used to those lights blinking all the time I guess. --- In DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com, "n6i6s6" <N.Scroggins@C...> wrote: > It's Sinner6. > > As far as the sequencer...it should only run when it recieves > the "start" command.
