It is essential to send midi sync if you wanr exact timing. You won't find 2
midi units that run at the same speed if not synced, even 2 Evolvers won't
run at the same speed.

Did you set Cubase to send midi clock to the Evolver ?
You find the setting in the main menue:Transport/Synchronisation

what's happening is that the evolver and sr-16 are not responding to midi
continue messages... when i restart my sequencer in the middle of a
pattern, the evolver does not pick up on it and starts running on its own.
the only way to sync it back up is to hit stop on the sequencer and then
hit play again. the evo is listening for a start message but doesn't hear
the continue message.

the nord modular, in its flexibility, allows you to wire up sequencers to
respond to this or not. here's what you need to do to keep them sync'ed
up:

1. active AND sync outputs of midi global module ---> reset input of clock
divider module. (keeps accurate count of bar start/end, even during
stop/continue.)

2. sync output of midi global ---> reset input of main sequencer (makes
sure main seq responds appropriately to midi start/stop/continue.)

3. sync output of main sequencer --> reset input of all other sequencers
(makes sure all other sequencers follow the main one, when looping AND
when midi stop/start/continue is received)

4. clock output of clock divider ---> clock input of all sequencers (but
i'm sure you knew that already.)

i even have my sequencer patches setup to automatically sync to midi clock
if it's present, and to the internal clock if it's not. that's a lot of
fun. :)

bleep.
out.

Hmm I sequence my Evolver with a EMU PX-7 and it responds to MIDI
continue with no problems...I just tesed it with Cubase SX and also
an Edirol PCR-30 and the Evolver responded flawlessly to continue
msgs in all cases.
