Can someone tell me how to do a full/factory reset of the Evolver.
Mine seems to be stuck in some wierd loop of random notes, of which there is
no escape.

There is no front panel command to reset the Evolver.  What you'll 
need to do is reload the operating system.  Go to the dsi site and 
download the files for OS2 if you don't already have them.  The files 
come with generic instructions.  If you have a PC, you can find much

I know the first topic is about "Loading Patches", but loading the OS 
is essentially the same thing - sending SysEx files to your Evolver.

Be especially sure not to power off your Evolver during the OS update 
process.
