Well....mr Julian, a discussion board is a discussion
board..isnt'it? So everyone invited to post anything he likes on
topic and without offending the others....I can even say the evolver
is crap if I want...(but is not what I think). What I said, maybe in
bad english since I'm not english mother tongue, after somebody
wrote that the sound is very good, was about its price which I still
think is too much. I have enough neurons in my brain to tell that an
evolver is not a xtk or an A6....but still I can compare price and
sounds coming out from those machines can't I? Or should I ask the
permission to you? Who are you? Si if you do not agree say "I do not
agree" this is a free forum, not a "YOU MUST TELL ONLY GOOD THINGS
ABOUT THIS SYNTH" forum right? I'm provoking people to have a
reaction in order to make my mind up but without offending peolple I
do not even know! So buy yourself some good manners book when you
buy your next synth. BTW I might buy a poly evolver when it drops
down in price. Bye.

I agree. you should 100% be allowed to voice your own opinion, as
should he.
and neither of you should resort to insults or name calling.

FWIW, I've been saying that the Poly's overpriced since it was
announced and
nobody's called me names (though they have said that I'm wrong and
crazy). I
think that if it was sub-$1000, I'd get it. Or if it were outfitted
with a
large array of knobs ala the Evolver, then I'd get it.

Personally, I think the idea of the Poly is a bit silly. I think that
those who
will use it fall into two camps: those who own an Evolver and will
control
the Poly via the (mono) Evolver and those who will simply control the
Poly
via software (and possibly some who will do both). What about those
that don't
own an Evolver yet want polyphony? What if they don't like software
(which is
the reason why Dave started his company in the first place) nor
programming
via four buttons, two knobs and a 2x16 LCD? The now need to spend
$1900 to
get the Mono and the Poly in order to have something they can use. For
this
reason, I would have thought it more sensible if Dave would have named
the
current model the "Evolver expander" and then repackaged the same model
into an Evolver-like interface but with the four-voice polyphony.

that's just my $.02....

oh calm down. you were making ridiculous comparisons... Yes, you have the
right to talk crap online, just as other people have the right to fling it
back at you. Welcome to the internet.

yeah the polyevolver is expensive, but it's a completely different thing to
everything else you were comparing it to.... Maybe the other synths do what
you want more then the poly evolver does? if so, then get what you want to
get... hell, maybe a 2nd hand microwave XT and a new mono evolver would be a
better way for you to spend your money than a polyevolver?

Though since you're still interested in talking on price, you might be
interested to know something about the 2 manufacturers of these other synths
you hold up as a good price example:
1) waldorf went bankrupt selling synths....
2) alesis went bankrupt just after developing the A6. The current price of
the A6 does *not* reflect development costs.

So yeah.... keeping that in mind, do you understand there's a few people
around who would prefer it if dave smith didn't cut his margins that much?
