User Waves & SID

User Waves & SID

2004-11-14 by Anu Kirk

Couple of things about user waves:
a) I see none loaded up into the files section. I will put my few up there. Let's get some up!
b) Has anyone got any detailed information about the SID chip/SIDStation Wave shapes? I know they were 8-bit/grungy digital triangle, sawtooth, pulse, mix, and noise. Anybody got pictures or samples? I'd love to have some of those available as my Evolver's wave shapes. I am going to research and make some, but I thought I'd check here first.

Also, one thing I noticed about the Soundtower software - it does in fact properly "save" waves into Evolver. But it doesn't automatically "read" them back out when you re-start the editor, so it can look like they aren't saved from session to session.

I have contacted Soundtower about this. This is probably intentional (to speed load time, etc.), but it isn't documented and, from my perspective, seems like it should at least be an option, if not the default behavior. So a word to the wise, make sure you "Receive WaveShape Bank" every time you start up!

Hi! Waveshapes of SID are now in the files area... these are the basic
waveforms, sampled at #F3. Needless to say that the waves on my
6581chip sounds much better! The orginal waves are moving a bit in
itself. I did not included the noise waveshape - this doesn´t make
much sense...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
