I wanted to note that a new feature request table is available that sets forth the feature request criteria requested by Dave awhile ago. I see 4 new feature requests and they all are great! Check them out and add your too. You never know when Dave will get the urge to code a new O.S. I will surely pass all this information on: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DSI_Evolver/database Ravi

Cool - Thanks Ravi I added my "shift mode" sequencer ideas - chained sequences. - Robert

Cool! I should add my "patch select" idea that I already detailed to Dave a month or so ago. Basically speaking, my idea is that after highlighting the main row (just prior to changing a patch) if one holds shift while turning either the patch or bank knob, then the display begins to flash and shows the new patch that you are choosing but Evolver doesn't actually change to that patch until you hit the main button. In this way, one can scroll to a new patch while playing another and not have to listen to anything in between. The killer feature to all of this is the hope that if a sequence in the the original patch is playing, then when you "execute" the switch to the new chosen patch, the switch will not occur until the RST of track 1 and then will continue to play the sequence in the chosen track. In this way one can set up "patterns" and switch them on the fly, sort of like a groovebox. Anyway I detailed it according to Dave's requested format and it looks good to me. Hopefully it will see the light of day. That IS cool. And it *would* be like a little groove box. BUT... it would FORCE you to "play" the Evolver, rather than pre-programming everything. I may be in a minority, but I think that's a GOOD thing for live performance. Of course, we play grooveboxes. Else we press play on the CD player and bounce around . . . :) >From: "Ski <ex5tech@...>" <ex5tech@...> >Reply-To: DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com >To: DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com >Subject: Re: [Evolver] Feature Request >Date: Thu, 09 Jan 2003 05:51:38 -0000 > >That IS cool. Additionally I asked Dave to spec it so that if the sequencer were running when a midi patch change command came in then the patch would change upon the end of the running sequencer and start the new patches sequence playing, holding the tempo. This way the evoler could be nicely synced to a real groovebox or sequencer and do it's thing. It remains to be seen whether we will get this, but personally I would love to play one or two of my Evolvers along with a groovebox live even if I had to manually change the patches myself. And then theirs my Notron . . . egad I haven't even begu to explore Notron+Evolver. hey, that is a good idea. here is mine, that actually
CAME TO ME IN A DREAM last night!
I was at the beach and a guy had a keyboard setup on it.
His left hand on the keyboard selected a patch, while his
right hand played notes in that patch. Since he was
able to very quickly select different patches, he could
play extremely complex and beautiful sounding passages.
I'll go post my idea, but repeat it here in case anyone has
any refinements:
***Allow a range of notes, e.g. left-hand, to select the patch #. ***

An interesting idea in general, to set aside 10 low midi notes to act as a keypad to type in patch numbers. Not sure it would fly in an evolver or any synth or have to, but it would be cool if a midi controller did that and merely sent out the patch change messages. Actually didn't some casios way back when have the keys select patches? >From: Crackpot <shifty@...> >Reply-To: DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com >To: DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com >Subject: Re: [Evolver] Feature Request >Date: Thu, 9 Jan 2003 15:52:29 -0500 > > > >hey, that is a good idea. here is mine, that actually >CAME TO ME IN A DREAM last night! > >I was at the beach and a guy had a keyboard setup on it. >His left hand on the keyboard selected a patch, while his >right hand played notes in that patch.
