NEW Sound Tower Editor Version 3.0

NEW Sound Tower Editor Version 3.0

2005-10-19 by dbeat

Looks like they've piled more crap on without fixing existing
problems.

1.right clicking "copy" STILL not include patch changes, while
selecting copy from the edit menu does. confusing.

2.Ctrl+C Ctrl+V to copy and paste patches?
The edit menu lists these shortcuts, but it STILL doesn't seem to
work. STILL Just plays notes.

3. How are we suppose to save to library program banks 1-15, are they
just for looks??

4. Skipped adding the new LFO sync functionality.

these are all issues i reported months back, that still have not been
corrected in the latest release.

Looks like they have added a screen for the new CC Parameters, i
haven't checked that for bugs at this point though.

Any other registered users out there? We should really start getting
on this guys case,,,,, Please copy and paste points 1-4 and shoot a
email off to editors@..., maybe we can get this guy to
finally bring this program we've payed for out of beta.

thanks,
d

I've given up on SoundTower. I get no joy from working with it. I am,
however, looking forward to the new editor coming out in December.

Re: NEW Sound Tower Editor Version 3.0

Ouch, very serious issues that make the program completely useless ;)

I suppose he simply forgot point 4 (the editor for the Poly Evolver
has the LFO sync functionality since the last version), so write to
soundtower and he'll most likely correct that.

In terms of point 3: I rechon that the library banks have library
functionality, means you can load saved banks to various slots and
combine them to a new bank. I used this function a lot, very worthy.

btw, as soon as it comes to the Soundtower editor theme in this list,
I find that the prevailing tone is a little, let me say, irritating.
Why not critisize in a constructive way ?

On my system the editor runs perfectly, there are no issues that
prevent working with it, just a few flaws that you can learn to deal
with.

I have programmed tons of sounds with it, without the editors library
functions I would have been lost when I sorted factory banks and
combos.

All in all it works better and is more concise than the Sounddiver
version that I tested.

Though the look and appearance of the program aren't ultra modern, I
like that it displays each parameter on one screen. I have every
parameter at hand without switching betweeen pages. That's why I
doubt that I'll switch to the Psicraft editor. And I plan to program
a bunch of new sounds BEFORE the release of the Psycraft editor ;)

I already wrote to soundtower that the new trigger modes are missing
in the Poly version. I am rather sure they will correct that.

Some days ago I wrote that I'd like to buy a 2nd version of the
editor for simultaneous editing of PER and PEK if it were possible to
open multiple instances at a time.
The answer was that I should simply copy the program folder to a new
folder and would then have the desired effect without buying another
copy.

Finally, it seems that while nearly each member on this list didn't
receive what he payed for (and emphasises this fact in each posting),
I am the one who payed once and received twice the value ;)

Regards
Stefan

The Windows version's interface works a lot better IMO than the OS X
version. Functionally, the OS X version is about 95% there. I need to
poke around in Virtual PC more to get my USB MIDI interface working.

There are only few niggling points here though. I've already paid $50
for this editor. I don't know if another $75 for the new Vyzor is going
to be worth it for me. Don't get me wrong, Vyzor looks awesome, and if
everything works correctly as described, it's incredible. I just dunno
if I want to shell out another $75 when I have one that pretty much
works now

I agree. I'm getting pretty zippy on the tabletop matrix, anyway. The
Soundtower editor is still useful for file management, though.

I wonder if the Vyzor people would be interested in doing a group buy.
Anybody here wanna get in on it? If we get enough interest, we could
send email to Vyzor.

/Scott

I would if it's a decent discount

I would if I believed they were actually going to release it someday!

Re: NEW Sound Tower Editor Version 3.0

no man, it's not "irritating" it's "irritated"

oh, and heres their latest response on the update.

"We jut placed only a new EXE there for people to test V3 CC
implementation
(A new CC Sliders window under Opion menu). The formal update is not
formaly released yet."

so, why not list it as a beta(it says version 3.0!) and explain that
on the page, instead of having hopeful users download this to find in
not working/incomplete?

more of the same nonintuitive design and support.....

glad your happy though.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
