Many of your questions can be answered by reading "The Definitive Guide to Evolver", which will also walk you through some little exercises to help you understand it better: http://www.carbon111.com/evolverguide.pdf (Thanks again to James for hosting this - by the way, his studio is OFF THE HOOK! http://www.carbon111.com/rustyinsects.html) Some answers to your specific questions: > please tell me where I am going wrong with wave shaping, sequencing, > wave scanning, wavetable stuff. Strictly speaking, the Evolver can't do "wave scanning". > But why do the waves one each stop > at 96 and not go beyond to 130 user waves? I must be doing something > wrong......... Evolver only comes with a certain amount of waveshapes in ROM, and one of them is "silent". The user waves arrive blank as well, which is why they seem to "stop". You can use the Soundtower Editor or other tools to create and import your own waveshapes which will be saved inside Evolver. > Anyway to scan, filter thru or evolve where to go from here Pretty much whatever floats your boat - the digital waveshapes provide a different way of generating the basic sound and different kinds of sounds from the analog oscillators. > and just what part do the analogue oscillators play in all this? Again strictly speaking, none - the waveshape stuff only works for the digital oscillators. > What the hell is wide-stereo? ...very confusing micro-machine.. Rather than providing continuous control over Left and Right panning, eEvolver has 7 output settings: "Wide stereo L-R" - oscillators 1 & 3 and Left filter come out of left channel only, oscillators 2 & 4 and Right filter come out of right channel only. "Stereo L-R" - Each "side" is closer to the middle - rather than being hard left and right, it's more like 60% left and right "Narrow Stereo L-R" - narrower still, like 30% left and right "Mono (L+R in the middle)" "Narrow Stereo R-L (Osc and filter positions reversed)" "Stereo R-L (Osc positions reversed)" "Wide Stereo R-L (Osc positions reversed) -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
