PEK review in Sound On Sound

2006-02-17 by Jussi Piekkala

Have you noticed the extensive review of PEK in March 2006 issue of
UK music gear magazine Sound On Sound?

I can not copy the entire article, but I hope the copyright will
allow for a short citation of the pros and cons:

"Pros:
- Sounds great, with unique and innovative sounds.
- The knobular front panel makes the complex synth engine quite
manageable, even easy to use!
- Looks fantastic in almost every respect.

Cons:
- External PSU (no matter how many times we see 'em, we still don't
like 'em...).
- Four-voice polyphony does seem a bit limiting these days."

By the way, reviews of older models of Evolver are (AFIK) available
for free at Sound On Sound:
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb03/articles/davesmithevolver.asp
(mono Evolver) and
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/dec04/articles/dspolyevolver.htm
(rack model).

I agree completely!

At least it's the 'lump in the middle' type.

That's because they lack imagination.
